ABOUT ANGEL FITOR
Angel Fitor is a photographer and marine biologist who has dedicated his career to revealing the hidden worlds beneath the water’s surface. Based in Spain, he specialises in marine ecosystems, using powerful visual storytelling to inspire a deeper understanding of the natural world. His work has appeared in National Geographic, Smithsonian, GEO, and and he is a member of The Photo Society.
Renowned for his innovative and creative approach to underwater photography, Angel combines scientific knowledge with striking imagery to tell stories that have gained recognition in many of the world’s leading photo awards including World Press Photo, Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the Sony World Photography Awards, and the Big Picture competition. In 2021 he was named European Wildlife Photographer of the Year by the German Society for Nature Photography (GDT), and he has since served as a speaker at WildPhotos and as a judge for major international photography competitions, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
A passionate advocate for conservation, Angel believes photography has the power to build empathy, communicate complex environmental issues, and inspire lasting change. He continues to work on long-term documentary projects while collaborating with scientists, filmmakers, and conservation organisations to give a voice to Earth’s most overlooked ecosystems.
